Annual Coyote-Kit Foxtrot Charm Social Packs the Legion Hall

IRONWOOD STATION— Corsages outnumbered folding chairs by sundown, a mathematical feat only Valentine’s can achieve. The American Legion Hall—freshly waxed and cautiously hopeful—hosted our twelfth annual “Coyote-Kit Foxtrot,” where dress code calls for pressed trousers, sensible heels, and hearts worn visibly.

Bandmaster Quail kept tempo like a conductor who moonlights as a metronome. Couples swept the floor in respectful foxtrots until the jukebox deputation petitioned for two slow numbers “for the romantics and the shy.” Requests were granted; dignity remained intact.

Raffle prizes included a quilt stitched with local landmark silhouettes, a set of pie tins, and dinner for two at the Sunset Diner (milkshakes negotiable). All proceeds fund the volunteer ambulance fund—because small-town love, sensibly applied, keeps the lights on.

Closing time arrived with sparklers on the porch, strictly supervised and deeply enjoyed. If you missed it, start shining your oxfords now—next year’s theme is already under classified discussion, and rumor says it rhymes with “moonlight.”
