Bookmobile Adds Evening Stop; Horned Toad Society First in Line
RATTLESNAKE RIDGE— County Librarian Ms. Ibis announced Thursday that the bookmobile “Desert Rose” will idle behind the grange hall each Thursday at six-thirty, a concession to farmers, shift workers, and anyone who believes stories taste better after supper.
The Horned Toad Society—our town’s gentlest debating club—claimed inaugural honors with a joint reading from The Red Pony and a spirited discussion over whether chapter four should legally count as two chapters on account of emotional weight. President L.T. Horn advised newcomers to bring their own folding chairs and an open mind.
Children’s corner features puppets repaired by the Future Homemakers and a fresh stack of space-race biographies, because optimism now orbits monthly. Late fees remain forgiving; honesty, as always, is the preferred currency.
If the line stretches past the mesquite, don’t worry—volunteers pass out watermelon wedges and small talk. Literacy, like shade, is best shared.
