Mesquite JC Pronghorns Stampede Past Invaders in Home-Opener Slugfest

PRONGHORN FIELD— Mesquite Junior College christened its renovated scoreboard with a twelve-hit parade, beating Western Basin CC 11–4 in a game that featured two warning-track robberies and one outfield collision resolved with apologies and sunflower seeds.

DH Tommy Tortuga cleared the fences in the third; starting pitcher “Fast” Frank Falcon fanned seven while working around three walks Coach Otter called “teachable flirtations with the strike zone.” Catcher Wally Weasel gunned down a runner at second with a throw that made scouts adjust their clipboards.

A tarp scare in the seventh—wind, not rain—delayed play four minutes. The pep band played the fight song twice; the clouds moved on like guests who remembered curfew.
